Work That Supports South African Bakeries
Our workshop keeps ovens running and production moving. We make steel oven floor tiles, bread pans and custom trays, and we also handle recoating, repairs and straightening for customers who cannot afford long downtime. That means every person here plays a part in keeping bakeries supplied, especially when load shedding, tight delivery times and plant schedules put pressure on the day.
We have been based in Westmead, Pinetown since 1997 and we hire people who understand practical work, clean finishes and proper turnaround times. Some roles are hands on in production, others support orders, quality checks, dispatch and customer service.
Roles We Commonly Hire For
We do not list fixed vacancies on this page, but we do keep CVs on file for the sorts of work that keep our operation moving.
- Production and fabrication support
- Welding and repair work
- Machine and workshop assistance
- Spraying, recoating and finishing
- Dispatch, packing and order handling
- Sales support and customer coordination
- Operations and scheduling support
Experience in metalwork, manufacturing, baking equipment or industrial repairs is useful. If you have worked in a factory, workshop or service yard before, mention the exact tasks you handled, not just the job title.
What We Look For In A Candidate
We value people who arrive on time, work carefully and keep their area tidy. Our customers rely on trays and pans that fit properly, hold heat well and stand up to repeated use, so the standard has to stay high. A good attitude matters just as much as technical skill.
- Attention to detail
- Willingness to learn trade processes
- Ability to follow safety rules
- Comfort with physical work and standing for long periods
- Clear communication with the team
If you can read a measure tape, use basic workshop tools and work safely around heat, metal and moving equipment, you will fit in well. Coastal humidity and day-to-day wear can affect bakeware, so practical problem solving is part of the job too.
How To Send Your CV
Email your CV to sales@bakerite.co.za with a short note telling us what kind of work you are looking for. Include your name, town, contact number and a summary of your experience. If you have trade certificates, previous workshop references or a portfolio of repair work, attach those as well.
Keep the email simple and direct. If you are applying for production, repairs, dispatch or office support, say so clearly. We review CVs as needs change, so a strong application can be kept on file for future openings.
Life In The Westmead Workshop
Our base in Westmead, Pinetown gives us easy access to Durban, New Germany, the Upper Highway and the wider KwaZulu-Natal area. It is a practical place to work from, with a proper industrial pace and a team that knows how to keep moving when schedules are tight.
We work with equipment that is used hard, so cleanliness, repeatability and safe handling matter. New team members are expected to learn our methods, ask questions early and treat customer items with care. There is no mystery to it, just steady work and a clear standard.
A Team Built Around Quality And Reliability
Bakerite is led by Sibusiso Ntuli, with support from Priscilla Naidoo, Themba Zulu, Ayesha Khan, Johan van Rensburg and Lerato Mokoena. Each person has a clear role in making sure orders move through production, service and delivery without confusion.
