Pan Divider Sets

Bakerite makes pan divider sets for bakeries that need clean portion control, quicker product changeovers and less waste in the oven. These internal divider systems suit plant bakeries, hotels and retail bake-off lines that use standard pans for more than one product.

What Pan Divider Sets Do In Daily Production

Pan divider sets are internal inserts that split one pan into smaller baking sections. They help a bakery bake more than one item in the same oven cycle, or keep portions consistent when the product line must stay tight on weight and shape. In practice, they are used for rolls, sliced loaves, small cakes, savoury bakes and mixed batches where the same pan size is already part of the line.

At Bakerite, we make divider sets for industrial use, so the parts are built for repeated heating, handling and washing. The goal is simple: keep the pan in service longer and make the batch easier to control. For plants that run under pressure, that can mean fewer odd-sized pieces, less product spread and cleaner release after baking.

  • Portion control in standard pans
  • Multi-product use from one pan body
  • Cleaner shape and more even bake results
  • Less wasted oven space when small units are packed out

Sizes, Panel Styles And Common Build Options

Divider sets are matched to the pan you already use, so sizing starts with the inside length, width and depth of the parent pan. We make sets for common bread pan and tray formats, and we also produce custom patterns where the bakery needs a specific count of portions per pan. For some lines, the divider is a simple straight split. For others, it is a full grid with removable inserts so the pan can switch between products.

Material choice matters. In hot, humid coastal conditions around Durban and Pinetown, a poor finish can start showing rust marks faster than expected. That is why the steel selection, corners and welds need to be right from the start. Where product release is critical, we can set up the divider layout to work with your existing pan coating or recoating schedule.

  • Single split, twin split or multi-cell layouts
  • Fixed or removable divider sections
  • Custom depth to suit the pan fill line
  • Layouts for loaves, portions, slices and mixed trays

As a rule, the tighter the portion requirement, the more important the pan measurement becomes. A few millimetres off can affect weight, proofing space and bake-through, so we measure carefully before fabrication. That saves a lot of back-and-forth later on.

Where Divider Sets Suit Best

These sets work well in plant bakeries, supermarket bakery lines, hotel kitchens and contract baking operations that need repeatable results from the same oven cycle. They are useful where product mix changes during the day, or where the bakery wants to run smaller units without buying a completely different pan range. In bigger production plants, divider sets can help with trial runs too, since a new product can be tested inside an existing pan size.

We supply from Westmead, Pinetown to customers across KwaZulu-Natal and nationally. That includes sites in Durban, New Germany and the Upper Highway area, plus plant bakeries further afield. If the line is affected by load-shedding, it helps to have pans and divider systems that handle stop-start production without warping or loosening at the joints.

  • Plant bakeries with high daily throughput
  • Hotel and hospitality bakeries
  • Retail bake-off departments
  • Trial runs and recipe testing on existing equipment

Installation, Oven Fit And Utility Requirements

Pan divider sets do not need gas or electrical supply on their own. They sit inside the pan and work with the oven you already have, whether that is electric, gas or a combination system. What matters is fit, airflow and handling space. If the divider is too loose, product can shift during proofing or baking. If it is too tight, cleaning becomes a job and the pan may wear faster than it should.

Installation is normally straightforward. The divider set is placed into the pan, checked for squareness and then matched to the bakery process. In some cases, a minor rim repair or pan straightening is done before fitting, especially where older pans have taken a knock on the trolley or in the wash area. We can also assess fleets of pans and advise which ones are worth recoating or repairing first.

  • No direct power or gas requirement
  • Works with existing ovens and proofing systems
  • Best fitted after pan measurement and condition check
  • May need pan repairs before installation on worn units

Care, Cleaning And Ongoing Servicing

Like all industrial bakeware, divider sets last longer when they are cleaned properly and checked regularly. Flour build-up, sugar residue and damp stacking all shorten service life. In coastal areas, leaving the parts wet overnight can bring surface corrosion on fast, so drying matters. Wash with suitable bakery cleaning methods, rinse well and store the parts where air can move around them.

We also service related bakeware items. If the pan body needs straightening, corner repairs, rim repairs, lid repairs or weld repairs, we can usually deal with that before it gets worse. For fleets that go through heavy use, a deep cleaning and fleet assessment can help decide which divider sets should be recoated, repaired or replaced. Keeping the whole set in order is cheaper than trying to save one worn piece at the end.

  • Clean and dry after each production shift
  • Do not stack wet pans or inserts
  • Check for bent dividers, loose welds and worn edges
  • Book recoating before bare steel starts pitting

What To Check Before You Order

Before ordering, measure the pan correctly and note the product you want to run in it. We need inside length, inside width, depth, rim profile and the number of divisions required. If the pan is already in service, send photos of the base, corners and any damaged areas. That helps us see whether the divider set can be fitted straight away or whether the pan needs a bit of work first.

It also helps to know how the bakery runs. A small hotel kitchen may need one or two custom sets, while a plant bakery may need a full batch matched to several production lines. Tell us if the line is for bread, sweet goods, savoury items or mixed trays. If the pan must fit a prover rack, trolley or conveyor, note that too. Small details save time and avoid a wrong fit, which is a nuisance nobody needs.

  • Parent pan size and depth
  • Number of sections required per pan
  • Product type and fill weight
  • Whether the pan needs repair or recoating first

If you are based in Westmead, Pinetown, Durban or anywhere nationally, our team can help you match the divider set to the pan you already use. That keeps changeovers simpler and helps the bakery get on with the shift.

What clients say

Questions we get asked

Do pan divider sets need power or gas?

No. The divider set sits inside the pan and works with your existing oven, whether it is electric, gas or a mixed system.

Can you make divider sets for our current pans?

Yes. We measure the inside size, depth and rim profile of the pan and make the divider set to suit the existing unit.

What if our pans are bent or worn?

We can assess them first. If needed, we carry out pan straightening, corner repairs, rim repairs or recoating before fitting the divider set.
